Anger is a “blight” on society, according to Melton pastor Albert Peck.
In a bid to help the town’s men deal with their anger, and express it in healthier ways, Melton Baptist Church is offering a 10-week men’s anger management course.
The church offered the course last year and it was highly successful, Pastor Peck said.
“Some people don’t know how to deal with their anger, how to express it, and are struggling with how to let it go,” he said.
“This is doing significant damage to families and society; the breach of trust, breach of boundaries … and, of course, the terrible ramifications of physical violence, which are a real blight on our society. It shouldn’t be tolerated and it shouldn’t be accepted.”
The sessions explore issues such as “the language of anger”.
Pastor Peck said he didn’t profess to be offering easy solutions or fixing immediate problems.
“It’s a tool, it’s a process,” he said of the course’s approach.
The first session will be held at Melton Baptist Church, 1 West Melton Drive, Melton West, on Tuesday, October 4, from 6.30pm.
