Allegedly stolen vehicle evades police

A man has been charged after evading police in an alleged stolen vehicle in Derrimut on Saturday night.

Police caught sight of an allegedly stolen white Toyota Hilux on Windsor Boulevard about 10.15pm.

Despite police attempting to intercept the Toyota, the vehicle allegedly continued to drive in a westbound direction.

Officers deployed tyre deflation devices further along Windsor Boulevard.

The Hilux allegedly entered a nearby outdoor recreation facility and continued off-road, travelling parallel with the Deer Park Bypass at a slow speed.

Shortly after, the alleged stolen vehicle came to a complete stop on Westminster Parkway about 10.30pm.

Officers moved in and arrested the Hilux’s two occupants, no one was injured.

Investigators allege that the Hilux was stolen from an address in Sunshine earlier in the month.

A 35-year-old Aintree woman has been released pending summons.

A 23-year-old Sunshine West man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, failing to stop on police direction, theft, going equipped to steal, possession of housebreaking implements, possession of cannabis, possession of heroin, possession of methylamphetamine, possession of GHB, possession of a drug of dependence and various driving offences.

The man was bailed to appear before the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on October 28.
