AFL players give Melton kids a footy lesson

Sameeya, 9, Eli, 8, and Tyrese, 8, attended Melton South Primary School’s footy clinic.

Melton South Primary School pupils were star-struck when some of their favourite AFL players came to the school and kicked a footy round the oval with them.

Western Bulldogs’ players Lukas Webb, Kody Stevens and Easton Wood hosted a footy clinic for grades 3 and 4 pupils … and snuck in some autographs while they were there.

Midfielder Lukas Webb said he was really excited to come down and give the youngsters an insight into the world of footy.

“I loved when players came down to my school when I was younger,” Webb said.

“So it’s really good to give back – I found it really inspiring to get inside knowledge about the AFL and what football is like.”

Physical education teacher Stefani Modesti said the pupils had just started learning about football in their school curriculum, and the clinic would be an opportunity many would cherish.

“They all seem really excited,” Ms Modesti said. “And I know quite a few of them do barrack for the Bulldogs.”
