Melton South teenager held over carjacking, robberies; hunt for 2 others

A 16-year-old Melton South teenager has been arrested and remanded in custody allegedly over a wave of carjacking and armed robberies across western suburbs over the past two weeks.

Police are appealing for public help to find two other men who are also believed to be involved.

The three allegedly forced a 42-year-old Melton woman out of her car with a meat cleaver about 8.30pm on Tuesday, September 30, before driving off with her 2005 dark blue Chrysler sedan.

A few hours later, the three men allegedly stole a 2008 black Mercedes station wagon in a similar fashion in Shier Street, Alphington. The 46-year-old victim was allegedly assaulted by one of the men before they drove away with his car.

Police believe the same men took away a  expensive jewellery from a store on Sydney Road in Brunswick and fled in the stolen Mercedes station wagon about 1.30pm on Friday, October 3.

A green Holden sedan and a 2014 black Holden sedan were also stolen on Thursday, October 16, at Sydenham railway station and a shopping centre in Sanctuary Lakes.

The first man is about 175cm tall, with a medium build, wearing a white jacket with dark-coloured pants.

The second man is 180cm tall, with a medium build, wearing a black hoodie and dark-coloured pants.

The 16-year-old will appear at the children’s court at a later date.
