Hundreds of Melton families enjoyed an evening of fun and face painting at Melton Primary School last Thursday, to support the school’s new KidsMatter program.
Melton Primary School teacher Daniel Roberts said the government initiative was a way of “making sure we stay connected” with pupils and their families.
“We want every child to feel positive about themselves at school.”
The free night started with a barbecue, and continued with games aimed at engaging children with their parents and siblings.
“This evening was just about having fun, creating a positive environment for families,” Mr Roberts said. He said the school was grateful for donations from stores such as Bakers Delight and Melton Fresh Meat and Poultry for the night.
The school will use KidsMatter to promote social and emotional learning and work closely with parents, carers, and pupils who may be experiencing mental health difficulties.
