4WD, trailer, flips over on Western Highway in Melton

A driver lost control of his four-wheel drive and 20-foot trailer, which flipped on its side and stopped in a paddock near Beatties Road in Melton.

The eight-seater was east-bound on the Western Freeway last Friday around noon, before the male driver lost control and the vehicle came off the road, overturning and rolling into nearby farming land.

The “lucky” driver was left with minor injuries following the accident, which was attended by three police officers and an ambulance.

Sergeant Marty Wallace from Caroline Springs police said the car was a write-off, while the trailer, believed to be carrying signage, was substantially damaged.

“He’s a very, very lucky man to come out with so little injury.”
