Bacchus Marsh resident joins a cause close to her heart

Bacchus Marsh’s Joan Gauci-Quigley is a sister, daughter, friend, wife and breast cancer survivor.

She will join hundreds of people at the MCG this Saturday to raise awareness of the life-threatening illness.

“I lost my mother to breast cancer in 2008, and in 2011 my sister and I were both diagnosed,” she said. “The cause is close to my heart.”

On May 10, the Cancer Council Victoria volunteer will join the Field of Women at the ‘G’ as one of 15,000 partners, supporters, friends and survivors who will stand to represent how many Australian woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.

“My advice for all women is to keep up with self-examination… and go to your check-ups,” she said.

The Field of Women will be held at the MCG before the Melbourne versus Western Bulldogs game. Tickets are $55 and include entry to the game afterwards.

All proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Network Australia: www.bcna.org.au
