A new hunting and fishing store in Bacchus Marsh has drawn the ire of some shoppers but has the support of hundreds of others.
Scared of the Dark Upgrades owner Jerry Debono has drummed up close to 300 signatures in support of the store since it opened in Bacchus Marsh Village shopping centre on April 5.
“There’s a lot of fishermen and women, hunters and campers in this town, so I’ve seen a lot of people come through already,” he said.

“The closest places that sell these items are in St Albans, Geelong and Ballarat, so I think it’s welcomed.”
One objector, Rebekah Jacobs, said the taxidermy displays were disgusting and offensive to non-hunters.
“Surely the management … can see it is unacceptable to sell ammunition next door to a supermarket?”
Centre manager Robert Smith said three complaints had been received.
