Melton West stand-off ends in arrest after shots fired

A 67-year-old man has been arrested after several shots were fired, two people were hurt, and a stand-off with police.

Police say a man pulled out a gun at a Melton West home, on Melbourne’s north-western outskirts, and threatened two men and a woman.

A number of shots were fired in the Wednesday afternoon incident, but the two people injured were not shot and only suffered minor injuries, a police spokeswoman said.

A man hurt his arm while the woman suffered a facial injury during a violent struggle, she said.

A short police stand-off outside the Harkness Road address then ensued before the alleged gunman, also from Melton West, was arrested at the scene.

He is in custody and being questioned about the incident. No charges have been laid.

It’s believed the 67-year-old knew everyone in the home.
