Doyle’s hole-in-one snares him a car

For 23 years, no one had gone close to getting a hole-in-one on the Melton Rotary Club’s golf day.

This year, Nick Harrison and Harrison Hyundai decided to make it more interesting by offering a car to anyone who could achieve an ace at Melton Valley golf course on February 28.

“This is the first time we have done a hole-in-one competition – and the car went off,” Rotary president Peter Forbes said.

Doyle Trethowan and his playing partners were shocked when he holed out on the 12th hole, a 135-metre par three.

The shot topped off a great day, with more than $20,000 raised for local charities and more than 130 golfers taking part.
