A celebration of the sweet life in Diggers Rest

“What do I do with all this honey?,” Marilyn Fiedler says after a good harvest.

Her family consumes a lot of the stuff, she admits, and so do her friends.

The Bulla resident has been a hobby beekeeper for eight years after being “talked into it”. She has five hives and is a member of The “J” Bee Keeping School, which is holding a beekeeping and honey festival from 10am-4pm on Sunday, March 16, at 35 Duncans Lane, Diggers Rest.

Bee club president John Lawton said people interested in backyard beekeeping could learn about the techniques involved, see demonstrations and taste different varieties of honey.

There will be other bee-related products for sale, a band, a barbecue lunch, cakes, drinks and a children’s corner. Admission is $3 per adult.
