The sixth anniversary of Australia’s apology to its indigenous people was celebrated by more than 60 youngsters at Melton West’s Good Start Early Learning Centre last Thursday.
Children raised the Aboriginal and Australian flags, lit candles to remember the stolen generations and sang the national anthem.
There was also a talk about the day’s significance, and a morning tea. Educator Catrina Mallia said the children were particularly fascinated by the many candles around the centre.
“I loved holding up the flags and having everyone taking our photo,” said Kaiden, 4.
