Melton CFA’s training resources have been boosted by a donation to the brigade, enabling it to buy dummies used in rescue practice.
Melton’s IGA supermarket recently handed over $986 for the purchase of the dummies, which will be used in training for simulated fire and road accident rescues.
CFA station officer Jayson Hirt said the life-size dummies represented real victims, “allowing new members an appreciation for what it’s like to pull a person from a building or remove them from a car after a motor vehicle accident”.
“The Melton brigade appreciates the support from the Melton IGA store,’’ he said.
“Every donation goes towards firefighting equipment or ancillary equipment to support training our members.”
