Melton Lions Club member Peter Dennis (pictured) is looking forward to getting his hands dirty in an indigenous garden thanks to funding from Western Water.
The Lions club, Melton Environment Group and Bacchus Marsh Community Unlimited were among 11 groups awarded a share in $17,000.
The Lions Club received $2000 to plant an indigenous bush foods section at the Melton Botanic Garden.
Melton Environment Group got $1100 for plants and restoration works at the Arnolds Creek biolink project in Brookfield, and Bacchus Marsh Community Unlimited will use its $1775 for a tank and watering system at the Darley Community Art Garden.
The indigenous garden will include 1500-plus plants used by traditional land owners.
