IF FOCUS: Catching waves at Melton

Melton Waves Leisure Centre is, as always, abuzz with activity, not least in the popular wave pool. It’s just like being at the beach – minus the sand.

Manager Craig Morris anticipates a busy season ahead. He has recently brought his seven years’ experience in the health club industry to Melton Waves and is excited about the emphasis on community inclusion and fitness, with a big side serve of pure fun.

“I believe passionately that health and fitness play an important role in overall wellbeing – not just for the body, but also mental health,” Craig says.

“Melton Waves has extraordinary facilities for supporting fitness, as well as catering for needs – such as our professionally staffed childcare creche to free up parents to look after themselves.

“The centre is always on the move, implementing great new gym programs and constantly upgrading facilities to meet demonstrated community needs.

“For example, by the end of this month, we’ll have brand-new gym equipment in place.”

What does Melton Waves offer?

Swimming facilities:

• Seven pools, including toddlers’ and lap pools.

• A warm-water pool used for lessons and aqua-aerobics.

• Women-only session times.

Gym and fitness club:

The light and airy gym, with every piece of the latest equipment, has body balance and fitness groups; yoga-based body balance groups; and 50 gym and fitness classes each week. Various membership options are available.

Birthday parties:

Held in the Shark Shack Cafe, parties are hosted in a fuss-free fashion – and attendees are at the head of the queue for the biggest slide in the region.

Craig says he – and the entire crew of customer service consultants, managers, guards and gym instructors – are all about making people feel welcome and included.

“I love helping people from all walks of life and believe no one should be left behind,” he says.

“Everyone has a different reason for coming to Melton Waves and I find it very rewarding to see people achieve health and fitness goals, as well as having a huge amount of fun in a safe environment.”

Families signing up for water and safety lessons get the first one free.

First two weeks of fitness memberships are free – no joining fee, no contracts, competitive rates.

Melton Waves Leisure Centre, Coburns Road, Melton. Opens 5am-9pm Monday-Friday and 8am-6pm weekends. Inquiries: 9747 4333 or meltonwaves.com.au
