Eynesbury youngsters are getting a head-start in their education thanks to weekly storytime sessions.

Story times for children aged between two and five run every Tuesday morning during school terms at Eynesbury Discovery Centre, from 10.30 to 11.15.

The morning sessions include stories, songs, an introduction to Australian Sign Language (Auslan) as well as craft activities to be carried out at home. Meanwhile, babytime sessions run from 11.30am until noon every Tuesday during school terms at the Discovery Centre and include rhymes, finger plays, a short story and an introduction to Auslan suitable for children from babyhood to age two.

A Melton council spokeswoman said all sessions were free, with no booking required.

“Both our storytime and babytime sessions are a fantastic way to introduce your child to the world of books and songs, and get them started in the lifelong literacy journey,” she said, adding there was still room for more families to take part.

Sessions today will be at the Eynesbury Homestead, and they return to the Discovery Centre from Tuesday, August 25.
