Melton has an amazing array of bird life – from the majestic wedge-tailed eagles to the tiny diamond firetails.
So, it’s only fitting these wild and native birds are celebrated – whether they cluck, chirp, crow or hoot.
As part of National Bird Week, Melton council and the Melton Environment Group have made sure there are plenty of events to educate, inform and entertain locals curious about the resident birdlife.
Still on over the next two days will be a storytime session for two-to-five year-olds at Eynesbury Discovery Centre.
Tomorrow, there will be a talk about baby birds and nests with Nora Peters.
Melton council chief executive Kel Tori said the sessions are designed to inspire residents to get involved with bird conservation and habitat protection efforts.
“The National Bird Week events being held locally give residents a chance to learn about our birds and conservation in unusual and innovative ways, such as night walks and interactive museum displays,” Mr Tori said.
