Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, put on your running shoes, smile for the cameras and brace yourselves for the Moorabool Relay for Life.
The Moorabool Relay for Life, on November 26 and 27, will raise money for cancer research.
But event organiser Gillian Loughman said relay numbers are down this year … only 120 people have so far registered, compared with previous years when about 400 people showed up.
“We want to make this event a success …bigger and better for years to come,” she said.
In a bid to kickstart the fundraising for Relay for Life, Sweeney Estate Agents Bacchus Marsh will host a golf day on Friday.
Sweeney office manager Rowena De Kuyper said she hoped many locals would join in to support the cause.
“It’s [cancer research] a cause that’s close to a lot of people’s hearts,” Ms De Kuyper said.
“Relay for Life has been going on for years, and it’d be sad to see it diminished, with not a lot of people supporting it.”
The golf day will run from 11am until 5pm on Friday, November 18, at Bacchus Marsh Golf Club, 18 Links Road, Darley. Tickets cost $60.
The Relay for Life event will start at 2.45pm on Saturday, November 26, and finish at 9am on Sunday, November 27, at Darley Civic and Community Hub, Halletts Way. Tickets cost $25.
