Rising Melton stars Ayla Williams and Sharie Costello are immensely talented singers … and the rest of the community seems to agree.

Ayla and Sharie were both winners of the Melton Star Search competition.

The talent quest, which hosted its grand final at Tabcorp Park on September 3 and was aired live on 97.9FM, is open to people seven and older.

The quest gives performers the chance to showcase their talents in front of a live audience.

Ayla, 12, won the junior competition with her rendition of Sia’s

Elastic Heart. Her father, Scott, said she had been having singing lessons at Melton Music for two years.

She came fourth in the Melton Star Search last year.

“Ever since she’s been little she has wanted to be a singer,” Mr Williams said.

“She has a real passion for it. She dances as well, but singing is her number one passion.”

Sharie, 16, won the senior competition, singing Christina Aguilera’s Hurt.

“I’ve been singing for eight years, and this was my first time in Melton Star Search,” Sharie said.

The grand finalists will give an encore performance at Woodgrove shopping centre on November 14 and 21.
