Melton West Primary School pupils are getting their dancing floor glam on for an epic state schools’ musical.

The group of 14 grade 5 and 6 pupils will form part of a 1300-performer ensemble at the State Schools Spectacular.

The spectacular will feature a 64-piece orchestra, 1300-child choir, 30 lead vocalists, 14 principal dancers, 16 ensemble dancers, 22 roller skaters and 10 puppeteers.

Melton West Primary School teacher Deena Henaway says she’s extremely proud of the students for dedicating their Friday evenings to rehearsals.

“A lot of kids respond positively to music,” Ms Henaway said. “For them to express themselves through music and dance – they respond well and like it.”

The State Schools Spectacular is at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena on September 10.
