Melton police and young people were shooting hoops and breaking down barriers at a tournament earlier this month.
Students from across the municipality and officers enjoyed the Police Basketball Shield Tournament at Melton Secondary College on November 18.
College multicultural aide Robert Aduer said the day was an opportunity for young people and Victoria Police to bond.
Mr Aduer said students were hoping another sports tournament can be organised.
“The primary focus was to promote and break down common barriers among youth with law enforcement,” he said.
“It was a chance to foster a great [relationship] … students from different backgrounds interacted positively.”
