NEWS BRIEFS

Tip plan deadline

Melton residents have until this Friday (July 15) to provide feedback on tip operations and have their say on the extension of the Ravenhall landfill. Written submissions close at 5pm. www.delwp.vic.gov.au/ravenhall-landfill-expansion.

Car theft charges

A 24 year-old Deer Park man has been remanded in custody over the theft of a motor car. Police allege the man fled the scene of a collision involving a black HSV Holden at the intersection of Ballarat and Robinsons road, Deer Park, on July 4. They say the car was earlier involved in another minor collision in Caroline Springs on the same day. The Deer Park man was arrested in Swan Hill.

Manager appointed

Moorabool council has appointed a project manager for the Blackwood Localised Septic Program. James Maw will start in the role in a month’s time. The state government last year announced $2.6 million in funding to replace and upgrade almost a quarter of Blackwood’s septic tanks which have been deemed faulty.
