A two-day festival celebrating “big dreams” and promoting good mental health will kick off in Melton South next month.
The Dream Big Festival, co-ordinated by Djerriwarrh Health Services (DJHS), made its debut last year when hundreds of people turned out to the Mt Carberry Reserve to watch performances by local school students. They also took part in health and wellbeing workshops and got involved in art activities.
DJHS health promotion officer Ben Taylor says about 30 Melton South residents are on the festival’s planning committee. Following last year’s feedback, they decided to extend the one-day festival to a two-day event this year.
It starts at noon on Friday, September 9, with performances by local students, art exhibitions and the opening of a pop-up services hub.
And from 4-9pm on Friday, September 9, there will be a free screening of the Minions movie and a twilight market.
Mr Taylor says Saturday’s session, from noon-4pm, will include a health and wellbeing expo, arts and sports activities, and a free barbecue.
