Drama classes

Children’s drama classes at Melton community hall will encourage creativity from an early age. The classes will be every Thursday until September 17. Classes for five to seven-year-olds run from 3.30-4.30pm, and for eight to 11-year-olds from 5-6pm.

Ultra-marathon

Runners will negotiate the tricky, technical Blackwood terrain for up to 12 hours on August 15 in a bid to raise awareness and money for the Berry Street charity’s foster care camps – an initiative that lets foster kids bond with their new families. Participants will be running 70 kilometres through the Lerderderg State Park, including steep hills with a 2000-metre vertical gain.

Drivers’ expo

RoadSafe Westgate Community Road Safety Council will host a senior drivers’ expo at Hobsons Bay council offices, Altona, on August 15 from 9.45am. Participants get a free, confidential driving assessment in their own car as well as a check of their car’s roadworthiness.

Quasquicentennial

St Bernard’s Parish Primary School will celebrate its 125th anniversary with a number of events. On July 31 there will be a bush dance, an open day, a service from 10am and street procession from 11am.
