With spring flowers in full bloom, some of Australia’s finest floral traditions will be featured at next month’s State Rose and Garden Show.
The Victorian State Rose Garden, at Werribee Park, is already a garden enthusiast’s paradise – and there are few as excited about the coming show as Jennifer and Don Rickerby (pictured).
The couple run the Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria’s head office at Bacchus Marsh and will have a stall at this year’s show. With sustainable living becoming the new ‘it’ thing, the Rickerbys hope today’s young people will start embracing the benefits of gardening.
“Gardening is a wonderful pastime. It’s a good run for the mind; you can get out there and lose yourself, and you can achieve things by growing things,” Mrs Rickerby said. “Not to mention it can also be a very social thing.”
The show starts 10am on Saturday, November 14, and continues during the weekend. Details: www.stateroseandgardenshow.com.au
