The respected law firm of Saines Lucas has come a long way since it was launched in Ballarat way back in 1939. Established and built up by a husband-and-wife team of solicitors, the firm is still based in Ballarat but now has offices in five other Victorian towns – including Melton.
Saines Lucas Solicitors has expanded its practice in Melton, where it focuses on personal injury law to include family law. Its Bakery Square office space is shared with WPC Lawyers, established wills, estate and conveyancing lawyers.
Meet the Saines Lucas team
Managing Partner Nick Lyons, who has been practising in the area for 30 years, is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialist in personal injury law.
Natasha Papaelia, a senior family lawyer, practises from the Melton office and is assisting in the expansion of Saines Lucas’ family law.
Young family lawyer Angela Perugini, who is learning under the guidance of Natasha, is based in Ballarat.

Offered exclusively in Melton, services include personal injury law: WorkCover, TAC, slipping and tripping claims, asbestos claims, sexual assault claims, and medical negligence claims, as well as family law, and employment and industrial law. A suite of services at Ballarat and other offices covers business and commercial law; commercial and estate litigation; wills and estates; conveyancing; criminal law; leasing and business and family trusts; farm and business contracts; and sale and purchase of businesses and franchises.
Keeping it local
Managing partner Nick says Saines Lucas has a team of about 25 full-time and part-time staff working across the six offices.
“We strongly believe in supporting and keeping local staff who are then trained with our firm to become experienced staff,” says Nick. “We also work with staff if they have young family or are heading towards retirement and wish to work part-time. And we all enjoy helping people find a way through the maze that is the law … to our clients.”
