Get to the trots for a good cause

Enjoy an evening of harness racing while helping to raise funds for the Combined Churches Caring foodbank, Western Health Foundation and Hope Street. On Friday, October 21, from 6pm at Tabcorp Park, corner of Ferris Road and Western Freeway, Melton. Cost $45 per person, which includes a two-course buffet and a racebook.

Kids’ movie at the library

Children’s smash-hit movie Inside Out will be screened at the Caroline Springs library, 193 Caroline Springs Boulevard, on Tuesday, October 4, from 1-4pm. Bookings are essential.

Safety tips from the experts

CFA, SES and Victoria Police members will share safety tips with Diggers Rest residents on Saturday, October 15, 11am-1pm, at the Diggers Rest Primary School oval, Plumpton Road.

Get your child car seat checked while having anti-theft screws put on the number plates of your adult car. From 10am-1pm, Tuesday, October 4, at Hillside Community Centre carpark, Royal Crescent.

First aid for kids

Children aged eight to 14 will learn basic resuscitation and first-aid skills at a workshop on Tuesday, October 18, 4.15-5.45pm, at the Hillside community centre, Royal Crescent. Cost $25.

Pathway to better mental health

Premium Health will be offering mental health first-aid awareness workshops from 6-9pm on Tuesday, October 11, at the Stevenson House, 10 Stevenson Crescent, Caroline Springs. Cost $45.

Powers of attorney explained

Seniors Rights Victoria will deliver information about powers of attorney on Friday, October 7, from 10.30-11.30am, at Taylors Hill Neighbourhood House, 121 Calder Park Drive.

How to cut power bills

Energy experts from Positive Charge will give independent advice and support to residents about renewable energy, including solar panels. The Melton council-supported information session will run from 10.30am on Saturday, October 8, at the Balam Balam room in Melton library, 31 McKenzie Street. Bookings are essential.

Caring expo

More than 50 groups that deliver support, services or resources to carers, people with disabilities or older people will be on hand to explain their services at the annual CARE Melton Expo from 10am-2pm on Thursday, October 13, at the Melton community hall, 232 High Street.

Melton South Community Centre’s term four programs have been released. Included are classes in computers, languages, cooking, craft, beauty and first-aid.
