Barn for bookworms

Select from a wide range of pre-loved books in the historic Old Forge, near the Blacksmiths’ Cottage Museum, 100 Main Street, Bacchus Marsh. The Book Barn in the Old Forge runs from noon until 4pm on Fridays and Sundays, and 10am until 2pm on Saturdays.

Carers get-together

Carers Victoria will host a free, four-part interactive program for carers who want to know more about the aged-care sector and how it works. The sessions will run from 10am until 1pm on Fridays, August 26, September 2, 9 and 16, at level 1, 37 Albert Street, Footscray.

Crafty classes

Melton South Community Centre will be offering several classes, including first aid, body waxing and jewellery-making, this month at 41 Exford Road.

The Melton Garden Club meets from 7.30pm on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Arnolds Creek Community Centre, 19 Claret Ash Boulevard, Melton West.

Small business festa

There will be plenty of opportunities to network and learn about growth at the Small Business Festival when it comes to Melton on Thursday, August 18. The one-day event will run from 9.30am-2pm at Western BACE, 222 Ferris Road, Melton South. Tickets cost $20.

Plants for good air

Learn about the health benefits of indoor plants and how they can improve indoor air quality on Monday, September 5, 11am until 12.30pm at the Hillside Community Centre, Recreation Reserve, Royal Crescent. Two plants will be given away on the day.

The Melton Cancer Support Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, from 10.30am, at Melton Health, 195 Barries Road, Melton.

Calm the mind

A mindfulness workshop will assist with ways people can reduce stress and anxiety. Saturday, September 3, 1.30-3pm, at the Hillside Community Centre, Recreation Reserve, Royal Crescent.
