Snazzily updated: 5 Bluebell Court, Hoppers Crossing, 3029

This house has the kerbside looks of an earlier time but it’s a very different story behind the front door.

Revamped from top to bottom, the house is now a sparkling modern gem in all aspects but cleverly retains the original character found in a raked timber ceiling and exposed beams, while all doors, frames and architraves are still stained timber.

Wall paint is warm-white, glossy large-format tiles are pearl-grey, taupe carpet is springy-new and all windows are dressed in either white or natural timber blinds – a look loaded with appeal.

Entry to the house, via a timber walkway between house and drive-through double garage, reveals a short open foyer, to the right of which is the main bedroom. This has an archway defining entry to the walk-through wardrobe and an en suite with matte-grey floor tiles, white vanity unit and modern tapware.

A tiled lounge room with that wonderful raked ceiling, has a wood heater bringing winter cosiness and supplementing gas ducted heating and evaporative cooling.

Off this are a study with floating floorboards and the second carpeted bedroom with mirrored robe. An in-wall slider opens to a hallway, along which are two more fitted bedrooms, a smart laundry with work bench and cupboards, separate toilet, and the snazzy main bathroom with lovely freestanding tub.

Adjoining the meals zone and large step-down family room is the fab kitchen. Featured in a glossy magazine story, it has a wall of white cabinetry around dual wall ovens, a 900mm induction cooktop, a pull-out pantry cupboard, white Caesarstone benches, a brekkie bar for four, and a dual-drawer dishwasher.

Beneath a downlit bulkhead, a big window behind the sink affords views of the well-put-together outdoor area. This comprises a large gabled pergola above brick paving which flows unbroken down the side under a flat-roofed pergola to a second gabled one, creating a huge space for entertainment and relaxation. Pebbled islands of tropical plantings and a built-in barbecue add their bits.

On a block of about 700 square metres, the backyard, with a garden shed, has a good wedge of lawn, iron vegie boxes and low-upkeep gardens.

Great location, great looks and everything finished …
