Bushland escape: 55 Moonah Drive, Long Forest, 3340

Within an eight-minute drive of Bacchus Marsh’s centre, this property of about a hectare of mainly natural bushland offers a good antidote to life’s busyness without sacrificing in-town convenience.

It’s easy to imagine the kids scooting between the trees on mini-bikes, a chook run being set up and a gorgeous chorus of bird calls.

The classic homestead is a sympathetic match with the uncomplicated lifestyle attributes here, while a wraparound verandah provides even more excuse to sit back and chill.

There are a four family-friendly fitted bedrooms and a study that could be a fifth. The main has a walk-in robe and an en suite with pedestal basin. The revamped main bathroom is bright and modern.

A study nook close to the minor bedrooms is a handy feature, while white wall paint all through and pale floorboards in various places bounce around light.

A spacious, tiled meals area opens to a carpeted lounge room with a large corner window and a Coonara wood heater; two split-systems tame the climate year-round.

The large kitchen has stone benches (including an island able to seat up to four), a big walk-in pantry, white cabinetry and splashback tiles, charcoal pendants and stainless-steel dishwasher and 900mm cooker.

The sink area is under a downlit bulkhead and visually links with a very roomy covered alfresco area that is an an addition to the back verandah. Well behind the house precinct, a large expanse of parking space leads to a 12×6-metre shed with three-metre high roller door to allow caravan entry if needed. It’s also a man cave in the making, with flued fireplace, concrete floor and power connection.

Check this one out if seclusion, space and scope to improve constitute your winning combo.
