LETTER: Could have been tragic

I have recently started riding my bike to and from my daughter\’s school, partly for the enjoyment and partly to teach her better road skills.

This morning I had a very close encounter with a woman who quite obviously was in such a hurry to turn out of her street that she actually clipped my back wheel!

Lucky for me, I was traveling at just the right pace that her hitting me became more a wobble than a crash.

As I was wearing brightly coloured clothing, I am still yet to fathom how she could not have seen me.

How fortunate that this was after I had dropped my daughter at school and I was returning home, or this could have had tragic consequences.

Is it too much to ask for people to just take a moment, slow down and look? It could just save a life.
