Melton South skipper Blake Ivory led the way but got little support as his side finished the first day of the WDCA A Turf match against West Newport well behind.
Ivory top-scored with 35, but only two of his teammates reached double figures as South was rolled for 118 on Saturday.
West Newport had moved to 2-43 by stumps. A loss to Melton South could put West Newport out of finals contention.
