$21 million investment in the future at Melton South

Work has started on a $21 million education, training and economic development centre in Melton South.

Melton mayor Bob Turner turned the first sod of the Western Business Accelerator and Centre for Excellence in Ferris Road last Wednesday.

The 1.6-hectare centre, expected to be completed in 2015, will provide training and support to local businesses while encouraging new enterprises and business growth.

“The council is committed to encouraging business growth and enterprise start-ups throughout our municipality,’’ Cr Turner
said.

“We want to ensure our residents have access to the best training and education to help them in their careers.

“Melton has a large number of home-based and micro-businesses. The centre will provide them with the opportunity to expand and by supporting them, we are supporting local jobs growth.’
