Kurunjang’s Leo is a medalled man

Kurunjang’s Leo Johnson was presented with an Order of Australia medal last Friday.

Mr Johnson was awarded the Queen’s Birthday honour for his service to the community through education, employment and social welfare organisations.

A 20-year volunteer for the Australian Red Cross in Melton, he’s also a life member of Djerriwarrh Employment Services and a former commissioner of the Melton Water Trust.

Mr Johnson, 70, was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year but continues his work in the community.
