BFL reserves grand final: Darley falls to Redan

Darley’s lack of forward firepower proved costly as the Devils failed to overcome a slow start against Redan in the Ballarat Football League reserves grand final.

Meeting in the reserves decider for the second straight year, Redan won 8.8 (56) to Darley 4.10 (34) to claim back-to-back flags.

Darley failed to kick a goal to the eastern end of the ground, going goalless in the second and final quarters.

Five straight Redan goals in the opening term proved the difference.

A 50-metre penalty at the start of the second quarter gave Redan a 23-point lead that Darley failed to reduce.

The Devils rallied with two goals to one in the third but could only kick three behinds in the last as Redan did enough with 1.3. Jackson Lesko kicked two of Darley’s four goals.
