Man dead in Melton South house fire

A MAN has been found dead following a house fire in Melton South this morning.

The man’s body was discovered by emergency services workers about 2am in the Hume Avenue.

Homicide, arson and forensics officers are investigating the cause of the fire, which has caused extensive damage to the property.

A 48-year-old man who was also inside the home managed to escape the blaze without injury.

The deceased man is yet to be formally identified.
