Four farms get new breath of life

PLANNING Minister Matthew Guy has extended expiry dates for four Victorian wind farms, at Hawkesdale, Ryan Corner, Mount Gellibrand and Woolsthorpe.

The expiry date for a project at Salt Creek was extended by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Plans for a wind farm at Naroghid, near Camperdown, were refused due to inadequate information being provided.

The proponent must apply for a new planning permit adhering to the government’s strict wind farm policy, which now forbids turbines being built within five kilometres of towns or two kilometres of homes without landowners’ consent.

West Wind’s 107 turbines at Moorabool and 64 at Lal Lal were not affected by this month’s expiry deadlines.

The Lal Lal expiry date is April next year, while the Moorabool farm must commence within four years.
