CRISPY capsicums, buttery corn and an array of herbs and produce spill out of Morris Dal Bosco’s backyard.
The work poured into the Maddingley resident’s vegie patch has earned him first place in Bacchus Marsh Tourism Association’s annual ‘best backyard vegie patch’ competition.
Mr Dal Bosco (pictured) won a $200 hamper containing local produce, crafts and heirloom seeds.
Runner-up Kevin of Hopetoun Park received a $50 hamper.
Judges Jeff Jones and Geoffrey Camm presented Mr Dal Bosco with his prize last Wednesday.
Tourism association president David Durham said Moorabool was fortunate to have such productive soil along the Bacchus Marsh River – “a lot of pride and passion goes into backyard vegie patches”.
