FFV: Phoenix lives up to promise with first-up win over Brimbank Stallions

MELTON had been threatening to break through for its first win and did so in style against Brimbank Stallions in FFV provisional league 3 north west on Saturday.

The trip to North Sunshine yielded Melton’s first win of the season as it prevailed 5-2.

Victory lifts the unbeaten Phoenix to fifth on the table with one win and three draws, four points off the promotion pace of second-placed Melbourne Tornado.

Melton returns to MacPherson Park this weekend for a 3pm kick-off against Melbourne City (sixth, five points).

Melton’s women couldn’t make it a winning double for the weekend though, losing 3-1 to Casey Comets in state league 3 north-west on Friday

night.

Melton’s two wins and two losses is good enough for fourth on the table.

The Phoenix women play away at Bulleen Lions this weekend.
