Bacchus Marsh vet homes in on kitty litter

THE purrs of fluffy, doe-eyed kittens have taken over Bacchus Marsh Veterinary Clinic.

Vet nurse Courtney (pictured) spends her spare time playing with the 12 friendly young felines in need of a home. The vets work with Moorabool pound to find homes for unwanted or abandoned kittens.

Vet Sandie Roberts says there has been a surge in people dumping litters at both the clinic and the pound.

“I want to stress to all pet owners the importance of desexing. There are more cats than there are homes for them – the ones we have available for adoption now are the lucky ones.” The kittens, from four to 11 weeks old, cost $120 to adopt, which includes desexing, microchipping and vaccination.
