BNL: Bacchus march continues

BACCHUS Marsh consolidated its position in the Ballarat Netball League top three by winning away at Ballarat by 12 goals in A-grade at the weekend.

The Cobras’ 56-44 win sends the team into the bye week with four wins, one draw and one loss, half a game off the pace of second-placed East Point and six premiership points behind unbeaten ladder leader Lake Wendouree.

Susan Dalmau’s prolific goaling continued on Saturday with 44.

At Clarke Oval, Melton continued to build its reputation for a stingy defence as it limited Sunbury Lions to just 15 goals in a 48-15 win.

Shooting duo Tegan Gardam (31) and Brooke Gleeson (17) ensured Melton moved ahead of the win-loss count at three wins, two losses and a draw to sit fifth on the ladder. Melton South couldn’t make the most of home ground advantage as it lost 34-56 to East Point.

In Riddell District Netball League, Melton Central may have dominated in its 71-20 win against Diggers Rest, but the percentage boost still isn’t enough to move the Blues higher than fourth.

A four-way tie for ladder leadership is headed by Romsey (6-1) from Broadford, Macedon and the Blues.

Rockbank hit back from conceding 100 goals against Romsey the previous week by pushing Wallan, but the 2-5 Rams ultimately fell to a 21-47 defeat.
