African police application drive gathers pace in Melbourne’s west

Western suburbs multicultural liaison officer Richard Dove has thrown his support behind a police plan to attract more Africans to the police force.

Leading Senior Constable Dove, who works with migrant communities, believes the recruitment drive will help them feel better represented by the police.

“There are reports, anecdotal and statistical, of a spike in crime in some areas in relation to the African community, but more so it is a community that needs to feel represented.”
