MELTON Council staff are doorknocking houses this month to ensure cats and dogs are registered.
Mayor Justin Mammarella says it’s important that all pets aged three months or older are registered and microchipped.
“We see firsthand the benefits of microchipping when we are able to reunite a pet with its owner.”
Owners of unregistered cats or dogs found during inspections can be fined $249 per animal.
Dogs can usually be registered for $30 and cats for $16. Details: 97477200.
