A NEW mushroom business in Bacchus Marsh could soon employ more than 150 people.
While the $1million, 6.8-hectare factory now employs about 80 people, Parwan Valley Mushrooms chief executive Tim Adlington (pictured) says there’s plenty of scope for expansion.
“The business plan allows for the business to double in size. It will be huge for the local economy. We’re a 365-day-a-year operation, employing people in their 50s through to teenagers.” Mr Adlington says location was the primary reason for starting up the business in Bacchus Marsh.
The factory churns out 50 tonnes of mushrooms a week. Moorabool mayor Pat Griffin says it’s a significant addition to the local economy.
