RDFL: Melton Central win edges it closer to finals

MELTON Central moved to within percentage of the top six in Riddell District Football League with its 26-point win against Lancefield on Saturday.

The 12.11 (83) to 9.3 (57) win improved the Blues to five wins and a draw in seventh on the ladder, behind sixth-placed Macedon by more than 44 percentage points.

The Cats pushed Diggers Rest but fell to an 11-point defeat against the ladder leader.

At Rockbank, the Rams missed the chance to get the jump on the lower reaches of the ladder as Woodend Hesket won 10.10 (70) to 7.8 (50).

The defeat means the three-win Rams are still only a game above the wooden spoon battle.

In netball, Rockbank downed Woodend Hesket 34-26, while Melton Central had a weekend off with the Lancefield bye.
