A MAN is dead after a car ran off the road and hit a tree in Diggers Rest this afternoon.
Police said the victim, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene of the crash on Holden Road in Diggers Rest just after midday.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the Ford Focus sedan was travelling west when it veered off the road and struck a tree.
The driver, who is believed to be in his 30s and was the only person in the car, died instantly.
The death brings Victoria’s road toll for the year to 155, compared to 180 for the same time last year.
