A BALLAN manufacturing company is doing its bit to fire-proof the state’s housing stock. And with the help of a $100,000 state government grant, it also expects to create up to six new jobs.
Paarhammer is spending $538,000 to expand its facilities to manufacture approved flame-resistant windows and doors.
Western Victoria Nationals MP David O’Brien said the investment would provide a major boost to manufacturing in Moorabool.
“This investment is expected to generate downstream employment and economic activity along the value chain in a number of different areas.”
Owner Edith Paarhammer was thrilled to get the grant. “It will help towards paying for an extension to the factory and some specialised machinery.
“The majority of present staff live locally, so this not only provides much needed job growth for Ballan but also brings further spending capacity into the town.”
The grant was made available through the Victorian Business Flood Recovery Fund, designed to create sustainable jobs in flood-affected regions and encourage private sector investment. -Ben Cameron
