MACEDON has separated itself from Melton Central in the win-for-win battle to make the RDFL top six after the Cats outlasted Rockbank by 22 points at the weekend.
Wallan is now the team in the top six hot seat after Macedon’s 14.15 (99) to 11.11 (77) win boosted the Cats to fifth.
Wallan’s 38-point loss to Diggers Rest leaves the Magpies (8-7) just half a game ahead of seventh-placed Melton Central (7-1-7).
Central stayed with Riddell to half-time but couldn’t stick with the Bombers in the third term when the visitors to MacPherson Park booted seven goals to two in the 14.16 (100) to 12.8 (80) result.
At Rockbank, the Rams trailed by just two points at the final change, but Macedon, led by Shaun Neeson’s bag of eight goals, kicked the only three majors of the final term.

Neeson was the only multiple goal-kicker for the Cats, while Michael Lindsey booted four for Rockbank and stand-out Jamie Zerafa booted three.
No ladder positions changed in the battle for top spots as Diggers Rest, Romsey, Sunbury Kangaroos and Riddell all won at the weekend.
The Burras (14-1) maintained their game advantage on top of the table from Romsey (13-2). A six-goal game from Brent Tuckey inspired Diggers Rest’s 15.13 (103) to 9.11 (65) win against Wallan.
