Video protest put to coalface

IN what’s thought to be a first for Moorabool, the council will be officially lobbied via video on Wednesday night.

Moorabool Environmental Group member Kate Tubbs will present a video featuring 22 residents calling on the council to sign an anti-coal moratorium.

The video features a number of well-known local faces including Ballarat Labor MP Catherine King, mayor Pat Griffin, Cr Michael Tudball, former mayor Di McAullife and other residents of various ages, from teenagers to the elderly.

“We’re hoping council will sign the moratorium after watching and hearing all these passionate people talk about the issue,” Ms Tubbs said.

“With the state and federal government providing $90 million for brown coal projects [in the Latrobe Valley], we’re concerned.”

The MEG is urging residents to lend their voice to the campaign.
