Caroline Springs children like Kane, Jeanette and Lana (pictured with instructor Bonnita Lobo) are getting a head start for National Reading Hour on Saturday.
The initiative is designed to encourage families to read to their children, even for 10 minutes a day or an hour a week. Residents are encouraged to read during the official reading hour, from 6-7pm on August 25.
“Books teach us valuable lessons, allow us to learn from the wisdom of others and open up our imaginations so we can dream impossible dreams and achieve great things in life,” Melton mayor Justin Mammarella said.
